The Terror of Fire

Dec 14, 2007 an old  turn of the century hospital that had been an Apartment building caught fire and within an hour was a conflagration that swept a city block, taking the Jewish Temple as well. We had several friends living there and one man we knew did not get out.  It was incredibly intense, forceful and very wrenching to photograph knowing a dozen people were still unaccounted for. These images document a primal fear humans have always experienced and known, the sheer terror of witnessing such fire.
